- Relocation expenses and/or accommodations are not covered by ministries.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**:
**Work Description**

As a Natural Heritage Information Technician, you may have the opportunity to work on some or all of the following activities:

- Work to help make Ontario's natural heritage information accessible to those involved in conservation.
- Assist Natural Heritage Information Conservation staff with life science fieldwork.
- Compile and enter natural heritage data into MNR databases.
- Assist with documentation and preparation of plant and insect specimens.
- Assist staff with data collection, trend analysis, and map preparation using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.
- Create queries using SQL, and perform database tasks using Microsoft Access, and programming using VBScript, JAVA, and HTML.

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:
You must meet **all** eligibility criteria by the first day of employment (contracts begin between May and July):

- **Age**: You must be a minimum of 15 years of age. There is no maximum age limit.
- ** Residency**: You must be a resident of Ontario during the term of employment.
- ** Work Status**: You must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) for the full duration of your summer employment.

**Communication and Interpersonal Skills**:
**Technical Skills and Knowledge**:

- You have knowledge of and an interest in Ontario's natural heritage.
- You have knowledge and experience in programming using Visual Basic (VBScript), Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Python, or JAVA.

**Analytical and Organizational Skills**:

- You work independently or as part of a team; you plan, organize and prioritize your work to meet competing deadlines.
