**Position Summary**:
The Educational Assistant in this position will support a variety of students with special needs including a student with physical health disabilities who utilizes a wheelchair for mobility.

**Job Duties/Responsibilities**:

- supporting a student in Division I who has multiple disabilities and utilizes a wheelchair for mobility
- assisting students who have physical, sensory, medical or behavioural challenges, and/or medical conditions
- providing one-on-one and small group support
- supervising students at school arrival and departure, recess and lunch as well as during community outings
- utilizing assistive technology to support student communication
- assisting students with personal care including toileting
- lifting and transferring

**Education/Qualifications**:

- a two year post secondary program in a related field
- a minimum of two years of related experience preferably in an educational environment
- experience working with and providing interventions to students who have developmental delays and learning disabilities
- experience supporting students who have emotional and/or behavioural challenges and physical/medical disabilities
- proven ability to implement effective de-escalation strategies
- excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
- NVCI, First Aid

**Rate of Pay**:
$22.64 - $28.70 per hour
