Part-time Teaching Load

The Continuing Education Department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of a PART-TIME PROFESSOR FOR THE SUMMER 2024 semester to teach the course of INTERNSHIP (420-758-LA).
This course will provide students with the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the IT field, particularly in a work environment that involves cloud computing. Furthermore, students will be able to obtain experience in one or more of the areas covered in the program while providing technical support. In addition, they will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to establish professional relationships with users and clients. Students completing this course will also be prepared to work within multidisciplinary teams and they will become familiar with the legal obligations and rules of professional ethics.
Students will complete 51.5 days (360 hours) of internship in a pertinent workplace (July 2 to September 18, 2024). The hired instructor will be responsible for preparing the students for their internship, and providing internship supervision and support to 15 students.. The hired instructor is also responsible for 60 scheduled in-class hours (20 classes of 3 hours) to ensure the students attain the competencies targeted by the course, as well as to provide support during the internship. These hours include the final presentations at the end of the internship. All students must be placed in a pertinent workplace by June 21, 2024. The 2 site visits (supervision) are done in-person. The individual preparation and support hours can be done in-person or at-distance. Experience with online course delivery platforms such as Zoom, Moodle, LEA and Microsoft Teams is required. The hired instructor will be asked to provide a bi-weekly job activity log.
**Required Qualifications**:
Must have experience in cloud administration and IT support, as well as familiarity with legal obligations and rules of professional ethics in the IT industry. Must have a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Must have pertinent internship preparation and supervision experience in a relevant environment, including preparing students for interviews and helping them search for suitable internship locations, in this case, that involve network administration. Proficiency in English is required. The internship environment could be in English or French, therefore, bilingualism is an asset. Certifications in relevant IT and Cloud technologies are an asset.

The in-class hours will be delivered in a hybrid mode, where some classes will be taught online (synchronous) and others will be delivered in a face-to-face format onsite from the College. The specific in-person dates will be determined by the pedagogical advisor in collaboration with the hired instructor.
This course is taught in English. The selected incumbent will be required to work in English.
