The Department of Social Science at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John is seeking applications for a Field Education Coordinator in our Social Work program. This position is at the rank of assistant teaching professor and is part of an interdisciplinary department that includes Social Work, Sociology, Communication Studies, and Education.
Position Details:The successful candidate will:
- Educational Requirements: Hold a Master's in social work.
- Experience: Have experience in delivering field education in social work.
- Social Work Practice: Five or more years post BSW or MSW, or three years post BSW or MSW with relevant lived experience.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with decolonialization, equity, and intersectionality in practice and education. Previous involvement with experiential learning is an asset.
- Networking: Knowledge of the social service and community development network in New Brunswick.
- Skills: Ability to build relationships, excellent organizational skills, time management, flexibility, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Project Management: Proven record of achieving project goals on time with high-quality deliverables.
- Registration: Eligibility for registration with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.
The Field Education Coordinator will:
- Facilitate student-field placement matches and link curriculum with placements through three yearly courses.
- Identify potential placements, recruit supervisors, and build relationships with local practitioners.
- Collaborate with the Office of Experiential Learning and maintain the Field Education Guide.
- Develop field experience procedures, policies, and guidelines for partners and students.
- Assist in troubleshooting problems, conduct site visits, and handle other field placement duties.
