**Duties**:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services. Responsible for providing accurate and timely internal and external financial information for the City of Stratford and its Business partners, by coordinating and administrating accounting activities, processes and staff while ensuring system integrity is maintained and all regulatory requirements are met.

**Work Performed**:

- Responsible for providing accounting services and preparing financial reporting for the Corporation of the City of Stratford, Stratford City Centre BIA, Stratford Economic Enterprise Development Corporation (SeedCo) and Stratford Municipal Golf Course
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting for HST, Cemeteries, Canada Revenue Agency and others
- Responsible for the accounting and preparation of Trust Funds financial statements
- Coordinating activities required for external audits for the Corporation of the City of Stratford, as well as Stratford Public Library, Stratford City Centre BIA and working with the Social Services division for the Stratford Perth Housing Corporation, including, preparation and compilation of supporting documents and working papers, and providing direct oversight of the audit process and working with external auditors to answer all inquiries related to the audit.
- Liaising with and/or providing information reports to staff, other internal departments, Council, government and other municipalities and the public on accounting, budget, payroll, finance and purchasing related issues.
- Overseeing and monitoring the Corporation’s purchasing activities including providing support for preparing tenders, quotes and RFP reviews, problem resolution and bidder disqualifications.
- Managing the day-to-day accounting functions (including but not limited to Cash Management, AP, AR, financial entries for investments, long-term debt, reserve and capital activities, and any adjustments, following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Public Sector Accounting Standards and Purchasing for the Corporation
- Working directly with departmental staff, the Manager of Revenue and Taxation, and the Director, to develop, enhance and constantly monitor internal system controls for all key financial statement areas
- Responsible for quarterly variance analysis reports to Council within required timelines and assisting the Director as needed for other financial report preparation and delivery to Committees and Council
- Workload scheduling, mentoring and performance management for all direct reports (unionized), system controls, budget and financial monitoring.
- Perform role in accordance with duties of supervisors outlined in section 27 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate University Degree in Accounting.
- Minimum 1-3 years related professional experience preferably in a municipal or public accounting (auditing) setting.
- CPA Designation
- Knowledge of GAAP, PSAB, HST regulations.
- Extensive knowledge of Great Plains, Excel, Microsoft office, and Citywide Asset Manager.
- Excellent written and oral comprehension and expression.
- Deductive Reasoning or Data Analysis.
- Problem Resolution and Critical Thinking.
