Administrative New Full-time Position - Revised Repost
Reporting to the Director of Research Operations, the incumbent will play a critical role in financial reporting, metric collection, and compliance activities within the Office of Research Services (ORS) at Conestoga College. The individual will manage a team and lead initiatives to enable better research data management practices, to develop new applied research policies and to ensure compliance with funding agency guidelines. The manager will be accountable for budget administration, tracking and reporting activities. This role will require strong collaboration with faculty, researchers, and other administrative staff to facilitate efficient and effective grant administration and promote a culture of compliance within the research community.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead financial tracking, reporting and compliance activities for grant funded research projects
- Oversee the preparation, submission, and review of financial reports for research grants ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Canadian and Ontario peer-reviewed research and innovation granting systems and the processes and procedures to ensure compliance with the regulations and guidelines governing research and financial reporting in a college environment
- Ensure compliance with funding agency and institutional policies and guidelines
- Lead research metrics collection, organization, and reporting activities within the ORS
- Support the development and implementation of efficient systems for collecting, organizing, and analyzing research data
- Work with ORS leadership to ensure the smooth implementation and adoption of the new research information management system; responsible for the RIM (Research Information Management) system beyond the implementation phase
- Undertake projects, as assigned, to build ORS capacity for supporting research at the College
- Research, recommend updates and draft new policies as required, collaborating to create new or update existing applied research policies
- Provide oversight of the Research Ethics Board coordination process
- Supervise, mentor, coach and lead direct reports, including full time employees and students
Qualifications:
- Four-year Degree in Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience including leadership, analysis, data collection, reporting, and change management activities
- Research Administration Certificate would be an asset
- MS Dynamics experience and certification would be an asset
- Experience in the college research environment leading research data collection and reporting processes would be an asset
- Experience with PowerBI or other data visualization software would be an asset
- Excellent communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders in government and industry
- Track record of effective communication, including coordinating and leading meetings, with internal and external stakeholders across all levels of the organization
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian and Ontario peer-reviewed research and innovation granting systems and the processes and procedures to ensure compliance with the regulations and guidelines governing research and financial reporting in a college environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively, within tightly prescribed timelines and within institutional and funding agency guidelines.
- Proven ability to effectively adopt and utilize online tools for collaboration - Project management tools, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, MS Flow, MS Power Apps
- Demonstrated experience creating and managing templates and other documents to improve business process and track KPIs continuously
- Excellent organizational, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and conflict management skills.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, tact, and sound judgement in decision-making
