**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The Globe and Mail is looking for a Cash Administrator for our Finance team. The Cash Administrator is responsible for the daily handling, matching and processing of cheques as well as other incoming money, maintaining cash book to reconcile to bank statements, preparing month end cash journal entries, identifying and working with the IT team to resolve issues or discrepancies, administrating bank account statements and lockbox statements, as well as assisting the tracing of cash during audits and regulatory reviews.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Sorting incoming cheques into batches depending on type (advertising, subscribers, chains, events etc.).
- Scanning and processing cheques into bank account online using a remote deposit capture machine.
- Sorting and managing other incoming payments such as EFTs and Wires through downloading information from banking terminal online.
- Preparing summary of all incoming cash daily for Accounts Receivable to post into SAP.
- Downloading incoming credit card payments from SAP and reconciling to bank statements.
- Working with the SAP IT team to resolve discrepancies such as chargebacks, differences in reconciliations, unprocessed files or issues with lockbox inquiries.
- Maintaining cash book daily to reconcile total incoming cash to bank statements downloaded from portal online.
- Using cash book to prepare month-end journal entries, including accruals for credit card charges and calculation of foreign exchange.
- Tracking incoming and outgoing deposits and gift cards in locked safe and reconciling it annually to the general ledger.
- Assisting in tracing cash information for audits or other regulatory reviews.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, preferably in Accounting.
- Basic accrual accounting knowledge.
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate-to-expert knowledge of Excel.
- Experience with SAP or other accounting information systems is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills.
- The ability to be efficient and suggest changes when needed to improve process.
- The mindset that it’s important to have internal controls in place that can be easily observed.
- The ability to work independently to achieve daily tasks without supervision.
- Good interpersonal skills to work with teams.
