As our Construction Superintendent, you will help build some of the most interesting electrical and mechanical systems in the world. You will be on the construction site daily, interacting with the construction trades, as Decon Controls’ owner’s representative, and be directly responsible for driving cost, schedule, and quality while managing key vendors and contractors.
**Key job responsibilities**
The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for construction project management and oversight of construction related activities as they relate to general capital projects which includes the ownership of the project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
Some of the typical daily tasks of the Construction Superintendent:
- Direct interface with construction general contractor and trades during the execution of the construction and project closeout/punch list phases.
- Conduct meetings with general contractor and trades to evaluate scheduling and daily activities with detail and accuracy.
- Execute construction project scope and request for changes.
- Reviews of electrical and mechanical drawings associated with the construction project.
- Construction document management including submittal review, RFI’s, change orders, and time sheets.
- Construction project quality control.
- Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
- Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis associated with execution or process failures.
- Leading within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the project.
- Meeting or exceeding Decon Controls’ leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meeting or exceeding Decon Controls’ functional/professional depth and complexity for this role.

**About the team**
Decon Controls realizes the design, planning, delivery, and construction of many of Canada’s major projects. We work on the most challenging problems, with hundreds of variables impacting construction execution— and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll collaborate with people across Decon Controls’ various projects to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite execution capacity at the highest level of excellence for our customers.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- 5+ years of related construction management experience.
- 5+ years of general project and vendor management experience (request for proposals, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.
- 5+ years of experience reading drawings, scopes of work and specifications.
- Possess clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to use data to justify conclusions. Fluency in English is required.
- Supervise construction daily tasks, specify/document performance and process requirements, create/communicate construction planning and schedules, and create/maintain project documentation.
- Demonstrates a responsible attitude and takes full responsibility for assigned tasks.
- Capable of making quick and informed decisions.
- Has a good sense of initiative and takes all necessary measures to move projects forward.
