The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate payroll processing, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and serving as a knowledgeable resource within the People & Culture team. Please note: This position is on-site. Candidates must be open to relocating to North Eastern Alberta (Fort McMurray region). Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing & Administration Lead end-to-end semi-monthly payroll for unionized and non-union employee groups Review and validate time entries, pay changes, and deductions Prepare EFT deposits, ROEs, and statutory remittances (CRA, WCB) Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure system integrity Support year-end activities including T4/T4A reconciliation and reporting Union Payroll & Compliance Interpret and apply collective agreement provisions Collaborate with HR and Labour Relations on leave, pay, and entitlement matters Monitor regulatory changes and updates impacting payroll Prepare detailed payroll and audit reports for Finance and leadership Benefits & Pension Administration Administer employee benefits, vacation, sick time, and leaves Coordinate enrollment, terminations, and adjustments with benefit and pension providers Reconcile benefit and pension deductions monthly Support year-end pension reporting and audits Provide guidance to employees on pension matters Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Mentor and support the Payroll Administrator; act as backup Partner with HR, Finance, and operational leaders Identify opportunities to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy Maintain high confidentiality and a customer-focused approach Qualifications 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including unionized environments PCP designation required; PLP (or in progress) an asset Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, or HR Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and CRA remittances Experience with payroll systems (Avanti experience is a strong asset) Advanced Excel skills and comfort with reconciliation reporting Public sector or multi-site payroll experience is considered an asset Key Competencies Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail Strong analytical and reconciliation skills Collaborative team player with excellent communication Sound judgment and confidentiality Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment Continuous improvement mindset Why Join Keyano College?
