Security Systems Technician/Specialist

Job Summary The Security Systems Technician/Specialist is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining electronic security systems such as CCTV, access control, and alarms, while providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise. This role involves collaborating with clients to assess needs, delivering end-user training, and managing project execution—including scheduling, estimating, and resource coordination. Travel within Canada may be required, and participation in overtime, after-hours work, and on-call duties is essential. The specialist must uphold high standards of professionalism, safety compliance, and communication with clients, vendors, and team members. Additional responsibilities include reporting project progress to management, and ensuring all work meets industry codes, specifications, and safety regulations. Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain security systems such as CCTV, access control and alarm systems for various properties and clients. Provide technical expertise to test and troubleshoot systems. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security equipment. Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs and recommend appropriate systems. Provide end user training and support as required. Collaborate with IT and facilities teams to integrate security systems with network infrastructure. The ability to travel within Canada will at times be asked to assist with client projects, however the priority will be to remain within your regional area. As a front line representee of the company, you are expected to set a high-level professionalism when dealing with clients, owner's representatives, as well as venders when communicating and / or working within their facility. Familiarize and adhere to all company safety policies, Occupational Health & Safety regulations and QA/QC procedures. As the main point of contact for either a project or regional representative, all calls, work requests, scheduling and execution of work will filter through you. Provide estimating assistance, assist with take-offs, preparation of schedules along with other project management functions. Technical Requirements Proficiency in installing and configuring CCTV, access control, and alarm systems Strong troubleshooting and testing skills for security technologies Ability to interpret technical drawings and scopes of work Familiarity with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and QA/QC procedures Skilled in using digital tools and technology to optimize workflow Experience with estimating, take-offs, and scheduling tasks Capable of managing equipment and material logistics efficiently Business Requirements Ability to assess client needs and recommend appropriate security solutions Experience managing project execution, including scheduling and resource coordination Willingness to travel within Canada for client projects Availability for overtime, after-hours work, and on-call duties Competence in reporting project status, progress, and safety compliance to management Understanding of budget constraints and time-sensitive project delivery Ability to serve as the main point of contact for regional or project-specific task Cultural Requirements High level of professionalism in client and vendor interactions Strong communication and interpersonal skills Leadership and mentoring abilities for apprentices and junior staff Commitment to safety, teamwork, and accountability Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues Adaptability to dynamic work environments and evolving client needs Ownership of responsibilities with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset As a member of the OSCO Construction Group, FCC offers a comprehensive compensation package including health and dental coverage, life insurance, RRSP and tax-free savings account options.
