Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electronic Security and Network/IT Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the installation and service teams to configure networking equipment such as Layer 3 network switches, routers, firewalls, access points, NVRs, servers, and workstations. They will also participate in the installation and servicing of electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, and alarm systems. This position is ideal for an individual who is eager to work with advanced security systems and complex network infrastructures in a hybrid environment (both field and office).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify and configure networking equipment such as layer 3 network switches, routers, firewalls, access points, NVRs, Servers and workstations.
  • Install, and troubleshoot networking equipment such as network switches, routers, access points, NVRs, Servers and workstations
  • Support the integration of security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion detection) with network infrastructure.
  • Run and terminate network and security system cables in various environments.
  • Perform on-site installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security systems and networks.
  • Work closely with project managers and customers to ensure timely and high-quality project completion.
  • Provide technical support to installation and service technicians as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Receives task from installation and service departments, import them in IT/Network schedule and meet expected completion date.
  • Manage the IT/Networking schedule and communicate with in-house team and customer efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in IT, Networking and electronic security systems (CCTV, Access Control Systems)
  • Cisco (CCNA) or CompTIA Network + or CompTIA A+ Certification required (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANS, DHCP and routing.
  • Strong knowledge of DSC, C-Cure 9000/Software House, Genetec, Lenel, Kantech, Airphone, Avigilon, Milestone.
  • Advanced computer skills including computer hardware and Windows and product application software
  • Possess an understanding of network topology and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible, dynamic thinker, able to assess issues, effectively prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Must hold a valid Class G driver's license and be able to travel to job sites.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be able to meet or surpass security clearance (CPIC or government security clearances).

Physical Demands

  • Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, stand, lift, and bend repeatedly.
  • Will be required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights.
  • Travel to various customer sites across the GTA (industrial, commercial, construction sites, etc.), coming to the office/warehouse when necessary.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
