ABOUT US The Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN), established in 1998, is a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the health and lives of people living with and at risk of HIV by using data and evidence to drive change. We work with three main types of partners -- 1) testing programs and clinics; 2) AIDS service and other community-based organizations; and 3) policy and system leaders within and beyond the health sector – to support the implementation of the provincial HIV strategy, priorities, and directions.

The Human Resources Business Partner – Employee Relations will play a critical role in fostering a positive, respectful, and legally compliant workplace. This role will be primarily responsible for employee and labour relations, investigations, workplace conflict resolution, and supporting the organization’s approach to compensation, job evaluation, and policy development.

They will also support broader HR functions such as training, recruitment, workforce planning, and engagement initiatives.

Employee & Labour Relations:
Provide guidance and advice to managers and staff on the interpretation and application of the collective agreement, policies, and employment legislation.
Build and maintain constructive relationships with the union and support resolution of workplace issues through dialogue, mediation, and collaborative problem-solving.
Support investigations into complaints related to workplace harassment, discrimination, and misconduct, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance with legislation and organizational policy.
Support grievance handling and participate in meetings with union representatives, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to process.
Provide coaching to employees on conflict management and effective workplace practices.
Support managers by providing guidance and resources on conflict management and effective workplace practices.

Support the administration and maintenance of the job evaluation process, ensuring consistency, equity, and compliance with the collective agreement.
Provide advice on compensation, salary reviews, pay equity, and market benchmarking to support organizational competitiveness and internal equity.
Assist with workforce planning and organizational design activities to align people structures with strategic priorities.

Policy & Compliance
Contribute to the review, update, and development of HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices, legislation, and collective agreement provisions.
Support initiatives related to workplace training on topics such as harassment prevention, respectful workplace, and employment standards.
Collect and action HR-related data to support policy changes

Coordinate workplace accommodation requests, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and applicable policies, while supporting both the employee and the manager through the process.
Support the administration of short-term disability, long-term disability, and return-to-work programs, working closely with employees, managers, union representatives, and external providers to ensure smooth and timely reintegration.

Broader HR Support
Provide support across HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and performance management, as needed.
Collaborate with colleagues in the HR team to advance initiatives that support staff well-being, engagement, and retention.
Contribute to projects and initiatives that strengthen organizational culture and effectiveness.
Supports the integration of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) principles in HR policies, procedures, and practices.
Update and keep track of general HR systems, benefits provider information, and pension plan input
General Human Resources filing and support
Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management (diploma/degree) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a unionized environment.
Demonstrated experience in employee/labour relations, including grievance handling, collective agreement interpretation, and working collaboratively with unions.
Proficient in using HR data and Dashboard reporting
mediation and conflict management/resolution experience is required;
Computer literacy in all applications of MS Office (particularly MS Excel) and HRIS experience required (Dayforce experience an asset);
Knowledge of job evaluation systems, compensation frameworks, and pay equity principles.
Keen attention to detail, action-oriented, excellent organization skills and demonstrated ability to move forward multiple projects simultaneously.
Availability to be on-site an average of 3 days per week (can change depending on operational needs).
