Role Overview: Our Toronto office is currently recruiting for a Practice-Specific Assistant Replacement – Real Estate to work in our Assistant Replacement group supporting the Real Estate Department. This ever-changing role provides interim coverage for Legal Assistants in all aspects of the department, to ensure continuous and consistent support to the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Preparing legal documents from written and oral instructions and precedents. Drafting routine correspondence on behalf of lawyer. Applying proofreading and editing skills to documents and correspondence. Liaising with clients, lawyers, and colleagues to obtain information and instructions. Entering dockets, prepare trust receipts and third-party invoices. Completing closing reports. Managing calendar and keeping lawyers apprised of ongoing and outstanding matters. Assisting in management of lawyer's practice, i.e., opening files, filing, arranging meetings, arranging travel and/or accommodations. The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills: College Diploma in Legal Administration. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal assistant replacement position, particularly in Real Estate. Proficient in MS Office with advanced computer skills in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Teraview and Closing Folders. Strong administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong work ethic and ability to exercise initiative and judgment. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision, as well as part of a collegial and outgoing team. Willingness to learn new firm software, embrace innovation and process improvement.
