Our main responsibilities are: Funding supports for municipalities A system that strives to ensure appropriate safety yielded standards for construction and maintenance of buildings and equipment Protections for new home buyers and required licensing for home builders Province-wide support for access to public library services for Albertans Management of about 2.6 million acres of public land in the province’s three Special Areas Independent review and decisions on local matters by the Land and Property Rights Tribunal Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Planning & Reporting, the Business Planning Analyst provides strategic advice, analytical expertise, and process leadership to divisions across the ministry in support of the ministry’s integrated planning and reporting cycle. This role supports the development and delivery of the ministry’s business plan, operational plans, performance measurement framework, annual report, enterprise risk management processes, environmental scanning, and executive level planning and reporting products. The Analyst works closely with ministry leadership, central agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure planning and reporting requirements are met in alignment with government priorities, accountability standards, and legislative requirements. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert advice and support to ministry divisions on strategic and operational planning, performance measurement, enterprise risk management, and reporting processes to ensure alignment with ministry and government-wide priorities. Develop, maintain, and enhance planning and reporting frameworks, guidelines, templates, and project management tools to support consistent and effective ministry-wide application. Conduct research and environmental scans, as required, to identify emerging trends, best practices, and innovations in business planning and performance measurement across government ministries and other provincial jurisdictions. Collaborate with ministry staff to develop, review, and report on meaningful, measurable, and outcome-based performance indicators for inclusion in the ministry’s business plan and annual report. Ensure performance measures and reporting content comply with standards, policies, and best practices established by Treasury Board and investigations Finance and the Office of the Auditor General. Support the design and implementation of a structured environmental scanning process, identifying opportunities to provide timely and value-added insights to decision makers, including the Minister, Deputy Minister, Executive Team, and Executive Directors. Lead and support the development of the ministry’s annual report by working closely with the Business Planning Committee and ministry stakeholders, providing guidance on content development, coordinating inputs, and ensuring adherence to government disclosure principles, reporting standards, and timelines. Contribute to executive level planning, briefing materials, and decision support products by providing high-quality analysis, synthesis of information, and clear recommendations. Strategic business and operational planning, and performance measurement theories, principles, methodologies, and techniques. Enterprise risk management concepts and techniques, including identification, analysis, mitigation, and reporting of risks. Research methodologies, techniques and procedures, research approaches (primary and secondary), including the application of qualitative and quantitative research methods and data analysis. Project management concepts, principles and techniques. Sound knowledge of data collection, methodologies, evaluation and reporting activities.
