About the Role Reporting to the Associate Director, Educational Development, the Academic Integrity Strategist is accountable for being a strategic university‑wide resource supporting a culture of academic integrity. This includes providing direction, leadership, and guidance to the Brock University community concerning the development and implementation of strategies that are grounded in evidence‑based practice, effective pedagogy, and that center on proactive, educative, and restorative approaches. The incumbent supports the interpretation, administration and application of the university’s academic integrity policy and related procedures and is accountable to work collaboratively with a broad range of partners across the university (e.g., faculty and sessional instructors, Associate Deans, Learning Services, Student Ombuds, etc.) to review and update the policy to maintain high academic standards and support the mission and strategic goals of the university. Academic Integrity Strategist will: Develop and continuously refine the university’s overall strategy to advance a culture of academic integrity, informed by evidence‑based and leading practices that are grounded in effective pedagogy and that reflect the university’s strategic goals; Act as the university’s subject matter expert for all academic integrity issues, ensuring consistency in university practices; Ensure that the university’s academic integrity strategy is aligned with evidence‑based higher education, leading practices in accessibility, principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and trauma‑informed practices; Collaborate with instructors, academic leadership, CPI and learning services staff on responses to emergent challenges in academic integrity; Provide advice to faculty and academic leadership on ethical academic practice, and the responsible use of Generative AI tools; Maintain high‑level administration of Academic Integrity case management platform in collaboration with relevant partners on campus (e.g. Learning Services); Keep up to date with emergent issues in the field of Academic Integrity, in order to provide evidence‑based strategic guidance to the university; Advise, support, and consult on the Academic Integrity policy and related processes, appropriate decisions/penalties related to findings of academic misconduct to ensure consistency and equity across the university; Foster strong working relationships with the Brock University community (including faculty/instructors, teaching assistants, and staff) to promote the values and practices of academic integrity across the institution; Collaborate with Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CPI) staff to support instructors through the promotion and adoption of effective pedagogical strategies that advance a culture of academic integrity; Collaborate with Learning Services staff to support students through workshops and training that advance a culture of academic integrity; Collaborate with instructors, academic leadership, and the Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Services on academic integrity information included in formal documentation such as course catalogues and other academic regulations; Provide advice to faculty and academic leadership on the dealing with and handling of academic integrity issues; Provide thought leadership and expertise to support a culture of trust and fairness through the development and implementation of a variety of strategies, including but not limited to campus‑wide awareness campaigns, training sessions, and regular communications and advocacy; Collect data from Faculties and Learning Services on academic integrity issues, procedures, and outcomes; Use data analysis to identify potential challenges and opportunities in academic integrity/misconduct and use the data to develop effective solutions; Identify, initiate, and maintain strong and positive relationships with external partners at other institutions to ensure Brock’s alignment to industry leading practices. Key Skills and Experience A master’s degree. The equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered; Experience dealing with academic integrity issues and procedures in a post‑secondary educational institution; Supervisory experience; Experience working with educators and students; Experience with managing a collaborative review and updating process for a major organizational policy; Experience navigating emergent issues in academic integrity and developing evidence‑based strategist responses in post‑secondary education; Demonstrated expertise in policy development, and ethical frameworks in Academic Integrity in higher education; Current and emergent knowledge of Generative Artificial Intelligence technologies (e.g. large‑language models, writing tools, creative product tools) and their academic implications; Ability to interpret complex cases to advise on processes and procedural fairness; Experience developing and running effective communication and training initiatives related to a major organizational policy; Demonstrated expertise in coordinating and leading complex broad‑based projects; Working knowledge of academic literature and leading practices at the Provincial, Federal, and International levels regarding academic integrity; Working knowledge of effective instructional design (including assessment design); In depth understanding of the University’s operational and academic policies, procedures, and regulations; Project management experience and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects from conception to implementation and work effectively with employees at all levels; Solid computer competency including word processing, spreadsheet, database, web applications and web maintenance, collaboration tools, social media, internet search engines, and the use of the Microsoft 365 suite; Extreme accuracy and attention to detail; The ability to develop and nurture effective working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders at all levels of the university; Negotiation skills including the ability to build on common ground; Demonstrated broad understanding of accessibility, principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and trauma‑informed practices and considerable experience working within diverse communities; Ability to produce detailed and comprehensive reports from a large volume of complex information; Ability to keep up to date with legislation, collective agreements, internal policies, procedures and practices. Salary and Total Rewards Job Grade M, Salary Scale ($73,245-$118,776); Target Hiring Range: $85,000-$95,000 This is a permanent position that includes: Health & Dental Benefits: Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision coverage. Pension Plan: Enrollment eligibility in the Brock University Pension Plan. Vacation: Up to 3 weeks per year, in addition to university holidays.
