Through a robust stakeholder feedback loop and supported by consistent processes and leadership, we deliver responsive, fair and professional service with empathy and efficiency.What you will create an impact onThe Intermediate Claims Adjuster for Casualty handles mainstream commercial casualty claims including slip and falls, product liability and other general liability claims. You must operate in accordance with operational and Best Practices guidelines, determine coverage, draft reservation of rights and denial letters, attend mediations or settlement conferences, and instruct independent adjusters and attorneys in negotiation and settlement. Claims are primarily in Canadian venues, with limited worldwide exposures.What you need to knowReview casualty claims in conjunction with policy wordings to determine coverageProvide direction to adjusters on investigation of claimsPrepare disclaimer and/or reservation of rights letters and communicate with underwriters, brokers and insureds when applicableProvide instruction to legal counsel to bring about appropriate resolution of claimEnsure compliance by legal counsel with litigation guidelinesParticipate in mediation/ADR process to bring about resolution of claimNegotiate settlements directly where possibleIssue payments within an appropriate time frameOperate within best practices guidelines, including timely reserve review, notes, payment requests, and electronic diaryInform management of all complaints, large losses, coverage issues, etc.What we're looking forMinimum 3+ years handling commercial casualty claimsCollege/University or equivalent industry experienceAbility to make decisions and give directions to adjusters and/or counselQuick learner with strong communication and negotiating skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsProficient computer skills to navigate paperless claim file systemTravel: Approximately 10% to attend mediations/ADRReady to take your career to the next level?
