We offer a competitive salary, learning opportunities, and a range of benefits.The Position:Neelands is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for an 18-month contract to join our team immediately. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment where you will support recruitment for both skilled trades and office roles. As a key member of the Human Resources team, you will be involved in all aspects of the employee life cycle, with responsibilities spanning Ontario and the U.S.The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, a proactive and practical approach, and maintains the highest level of confidentiality and discretion. Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Business Partner, you will play an integral role in advancing our people strategy and delivering exceptional service to the business. This is an in-office position based in Burlington, Ontario.Responsibilities:Ensure compliance with Provincial and State labour and health and safety legislationProvide counsel by applying knowledge and experience in interpreting HR policies, procedures, and payrollInitial point of contact on employment-related matters including but not limited to policy compliance, attendance management, worker's compensation and return to work, conflict resolution and employee life cycleRespond to employee inquiries on pay, time away balances, benefits, RRSP/DPSP and 401KAssist in talent acquisition and recruitment processesConduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiativesProvide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may ariseMaintain digital files for employees and their documents, training, certificates, licenses, benefits, and attendance recordsProvide guidance and coaching on performance management, including developing action plans and progressive disciplineGenerating official internal documents such as offer letters, transfer and promotion letters, and warning lettersProvide recommendations to improve processes and HRIS system featuresIn collaboration with the Human Resources team, establish and execute organizational training needsSupport miscellaneous HR projects and act as a backup to other HR team membersPerform other duties as requiredQualifications:Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management3-5 years’ experience in a Human Resources position, preferably in environments like construction, skilled trades, service industries, or unionized workplacesCHRP or CHRL designation (completed or currently in progress)Solid working knowledge of the Ontario Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Human Rights CodeIntermediate to advance in MS Office (especially Excel)Experience with HRIS systems such as Ceridian, ADP, PeopleSoft or etc.Knowledge of US Labour legislation is an assetWhat you Bring to the Team:Excellent communication skills and customer service abilitiesFlexible and adaptable to meet changing business needs and operate well under pressure with time-sensitive mattersStrong organizational skills and problem-solving skillsMust be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask and change prioritiesAbility to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentialityA friendly and professional approach to dealing with customersA self-starter who is highly effective working independently and within a teamKeen attention to detailStrong empathy, interpersonal skills, and resiliencePaid Time Off – Vacation & Sick DaysRRSP/DPSP matchEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Professional Development and TrainingNeelands Group Limited is committed to providing accessible employment practices that comply with Accessibility standards and regulations.
