We currently have a new opening for a Commercial Lines (Property) Underwriter for our Rest of Canada ("ROC") Branch based out of our Edmonton office. Reporting to the ROC Underwriting Manager for ROC, the successful candidate will contribute to the achievement of a profitable and growing portfolio of business by effectively and efficiently underwriting risks, with a strong focus on new business.What You'll Do:Review quote request and applications to determine risk acceptability, policy terms and rates to process new businessReview and process renewals, endorsements, and cancellationsPlace facultative reinsurance on risks that exceed capacityProvide underwriting advice and answer inquiries from brokersLiaise with personal lines, claims and accounting departments on mutual concernsVisit brokers to communicate underwriting approaches, facilitating public relation efforts, and solving problemsAttend industry functionsVarious other duties as requiredWhat You'll Bring:3-5 years of commercial property and casualty experience in a similar role or a combination of education and experience.Knowledge of policy wordings and rating guidelines.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.CIP/FCIP designation (or working towards) would be an asset.Guidewire experience would be considered an asset.What You'll Experience:Competitive base pay with annual bonus eligibility.Healthy work-life balance including a day off every 4 weeks.Matching contributions to your Registered Pension Plan.Personal insurance reimbursement.Social events held throughout the year.Celebration of your team’s achievements each year with an annual staff appreciation event.A career in a stable and essential industry, at a company with an exceptional corporate culture and opportunities for professional development and advancement.Why Peace Hills:Peace Hills General Insurance Company has been serving Western Canada since 1982 with home, auto and business insurance products.
