Security Specialist

OverviewThe Security Specialist V plays a critical role in advancing enterprise-wide IT and data protection initiatives. This role will oversee the implementation of security standards, ensure compliance across IT systems, and lead assessments to identify and mitigate threats. The specialist will directly support a new enterprise security program and collaborate with a high-performing internal team within one of Canada’s leading financial institutions.ResponsibilitiesDirect and lead security planning and strategy across IT systems, operations, and infrastructure.Conduct audits of existing systems and recommend proactive security improvements.Originate, implement, and maintain security policies and standards.Perform risk assessments, threat modeling, and disaster recovery simulations.Provide security consulting aligned with banking regulations and internal controls.Maintain awareness and alignment of security policy with business objectives.Work closely with stakeholders (50% interaction rate) on program execution and standards compliance.Participate in initiatives to prevent errors, fraud, and abuse.Evaluate procedures for gaps and failures in disaster response readiness.Required Experience8+ years of experience conducting security assessments and making security recommendations.Proven work history applying banking standards to IT and cloud environments.Hands-on experience working with PEGA cloud platforms in a security context.Nice-to-Have ExperiencePrevious experience working in the financial services industry or within a top-tier bank.Background in security testing aligned with regulated industries.Experience supporting large cross-functional teams.Required SkillsSecurity Assessment & ConsultingCloud Security (PEGA platform)Banking/Financial Compliance StandardsPreferred SkillsCISSP or equivalent security certificationRisk Analysis & Disaster RecoveryIT Policy DevelopmentStakeholder CommunicationSecurity Incident ResponseAdditional SkillsInformatics planning and coordinationSupervision and leadership of technical staffSecurity policy alignment and auditingSimulation of event-based threatsJob DetailsPrimary Job Title: Security Specialist VAlternate/Related Job Titles: Cybersecurity Consultant; IT Security Analyst V; Cloud Security Specialist; Information Security Advisor; Security Compliance ConsultantLocation: Toronto, OntarioOnsite Flexibility: Hybrid — 2 days onsite; moving to 4 days onsite starting Nov 3Contract Details:Position Type: ContractContract Duration: ~10 monthsStart: ASAPEnd: June 2026Pay Rate: $90 - $100/hourShift/Hours: Monday to Friday, Core Business HoursAbout the ClientTop 10 bank in Canada and North America offering comprehensive financial solutions.
