This includes developing, coordinating, and evaluating administrative and operational management policies and processes to support the business requirements of the department, while ensuring compliance with relevant ministry and government policies and practices. This position is pivotal in driving the modernization and transformation agenda within the DMO of Technology & Innovation. The Issues Manager & AI Lead is responsible for leading the design and implementation of innovative, AI-driven processes that enhance operational efficiency, internal policy development, and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities Monitor internal and external environments and strategic initiatives to identify emerging issues and prioritize and address sensitive issues in collaboration with senior staff. Maintain effective communication with the Minister’s Office, Assistant Deputy Minister’s Office (ADMO), and key stakeholders. Manage preparation of briefings, background materials, and reports for executive decision-making. Develop and implement administrative systems to ensure efficient operations, track delegated tasks, requests, and budget alignment. Design and deploy AI-powered solutions to automate tasks and improve decision-making. Oversee AI-related issues, ensuring proactive risk mitigation and compliance. Lead processes for managing correspondence and documentation, ensuring clarity and consistency in all DM communications. Inform the Deputy Minister on key initiatives and operational status, interpret policies, and provide recommendations. Contribute to division’s strategic planning and leadership team discussions. Coordinate and execute special projects, including research and policy option development. Liaise with ADMs and directors to resolve complex issues and ensure cohesive team operations. Qualifications University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below. Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. Asset qualifications Experience identifying, prioritizing, and resolving emerging and sensitive issues through proactive monitoring, collaboration, and solution development aligned with ministry goals. Experience ensuring efficient functioning of executive offices by implementing administrative systems, tracking tasks and budgets, and maintaining operational alignment with strategic priorities. Knowledge of developing and deploying AI-powered workflows to automate tasks, improve decision-making, and enhance data accuracy. Experience overseeing governance, risk mitigation, and compliance. Experience coordinating and reviewing correspondence, briefing materials, and documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across divisional and executive processes. Strong ability to build and maintain communication with senior leadership, stakeholders, and partners to support collaborative decision-making. Experience contributing to leadership team discussions, strategic planning, and supporting executive mandates through informed recommendations and representation. Knowledge of leading special initiatives and policy research, combined with experience ensuring compliance with HR, payroll and FOIP requirements across the division.
