The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for the academic position in Gastroenterology to be based at the University of Alberta. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of Canada’s premier academic medical institutions and is recognized among the world’s top 100 medical schools.

The Division of Gastroenterology is one of the largest centers in Canada, managing leading-edge clinical, basic and translational research programs involving 45 graduate and undergraduate students, with over $3 million in annual research funding. The Division provides comprehensive ongoing care through specialized multidisciplinary programs for patients with chronic liver disease, liver transplantation, and inflammatory bowel disease.

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Gastroenterology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Extensive experience in clinical management of gastrointestinal motility disorders and an advanced fellowship in this area are required.

Key accountabilities of the position include educational administration, program development, and curriculum development, with at least 25% of protected time for education, alongside clinical work, research, and 15% administration.

The successful candidate will receive a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Assistant Professor, in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
