Let’s build something extraordinary together.We are currently seeking anACCOUNTANTto join ourAccounting Team.Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant is responsible for accounting support services to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the Troika Accounting Team. This position is ideal for a results-driven individual with strong analytical skills and a passion for finance in the real estate development and construction sector.Key Responsibilities:1. Accounts Payable (AP):· Oversee the approval and coding of AP invoices and employee expense reports.· Process vendor EFT and cheque payments.· Act as the primary point of contact for vendor payment inquiries, ensuring timely communication and adherence to company policies.· Oversight of vendor records, including resolving discrepancies and maintenance of EFT details on file.2. Accounts Receivable (AR):· Add and maintain customers in our accounting system.· Receive and record payments, and handle customer inquiries related to billing.· Management of AR aging and follow up on outstanding accounts.3. Month-End Close Support:· Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries (accruals, prepayments, adjustments & fixed asset), reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate cutoffs.· Accurately prepare and file GST returns in compliance with relevant tax regulations and deadlines.· File various accounting related documents including invoices and receipts and make filed documents available when requested from team members.4. Bank and Balance Sheet & Intercompany Reconciliations:· Perform various bank, credit card and other balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.· Manage and reconcile intercompany accounts, resolve discrepancies, and prepare related journal entries.5. Financial Reporting & Year-End Support:· Support the accounting team in audits, year-end preparations, and special projects.· Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; Ensure that all documentation is organized to facilitate an efficient process.· Support variance analysis and budgeting activities.* Disclaimer– this list is not comprehensive, and other tasks not mentioned may be required as dictated by changing business conditions which may trigger changes to job responsibilities.** This Job description is not an employment contract.· Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.· Attention to detail and accuracy.· Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.· Display great discretion and sound judgement with an overall professional demeanor.· Works well in a team environment and remains calm under pressure/time constraints.· Model a learning mindset and be self-motivated.· Proficient in accounting software with the ability to embrace and quickly adapt to new technologies.· Maintain a high level of confidentiality pertaining to accounting mattersQualifications:· Education – College diploma or bachelor's degree in accounting or in progress towards a bachelor's degree (completed two years).· Experience – Minimum 5 years+ of accounting experience· Experience – Experience in the development or construction industry (preferred)· Language – Proficient in English· Software Programs – Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Sage 100, YardiJob Type: Full-timePay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per yearDental careEmployee assistance programExtended health carePaid time offRRSP matchSoftware experience in Yardi, Sage 100 and Microsoft Office SuiteDo you have experience as an accountant for a medium-sized construction or real estate development company?
