Company Description The Penticton Art Gallery’s mission is to engage our diverse community in an ongoing dialogue about issues and ideas as expressed through contemporary and historic art practices and to provide opportunities for interaction with artists and the artistic process. The Penticton Art Gallery exists to exhibit, interpret, preserve, and promote our collective artistic and cultural heritage as expressed through the visual arts. Role Description The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors for providing leadership in all aspects of the Penticton Art Gallery. They will be responsible for organizational leadership, strategic planning, operations, human resources, financial management and community relations. The successful candidate will cultivate a positive, inclusive and creative environment while ensuring financial sustainability and cultural relevance. This is a full‑time, on‑site role located in Penticton, BC. Qualifications Strategic Management Works closely with the Board of Directors to develop and maintain a 3-year strategic plan with input from staff and key stakeholders Submits an annual analysis of progress toward strategic initiatives Reports and recommends action to the Board for risk management, operations and succession planning Prepares an annual plan for exhibitions, programs and fundraisers with input from the staff team Submits an annual report to Board of Directors for recent acquisitions, suggestions for de‑accessioning and stewardship of the Permanent Collection based on staff and Committee recommendations Financial Management Prepare and implement quarterly budgets in a manner consistent with business practices Oversee bookkeeping and financial reporting Prepare, submit and complete all necessary requirements for successful grant applications Identify and secure additional grants through ongoing research Negotiate for funding with municipal and regional governments and other agencies Ensure accountability and control procedures for financial management of the Gallery Coordinate and plan fundraising events collaboratively with staff and the Board Accountable for the Gallery’s operations in compliance with the BC Society’s Act Operational Management Hire, train and support staff and volunteers Conduct annual performance reviews for staff Provide governance for Volunteer committees Perform administrative and facility management for the efficient operation of the Gallery including security, safety and janitorial oversight Determine best use/capacity of building spaces and oversee facility rentals Secure the lease agreement with the city annually Community Engagement and Collaboration Collaborate with community partners to raise the profile of visual arts in the community Celebrate accomplishments with the Board, staff, volunteers and members Cultivate positive relationships with all external stakeholders including cultural agencies, institutions and professional associations, volunteers, donors and the public Establish a donor sponsorship program engaging individuals and businesses to support the Gallery’s mission and initiatives Serve as the spokesperson for the Gallery at meetings, conferences and in the public domain Marketing and Promotion Develop and implement marketing strategies Ensure brand consistency on the website, social platforms and across the organization Direct staff in scheduling promotional initiatives across print, press releases and social media Manage media relations and partnerships with cultural organizations Additional Responsibilities Organize fundraising events and exhibition openings Maintains the highest standard of Collection Management for Permanent Collection Qualifications A minimum of 5 years experience working in the arts sector A post secondary degree in art or equivalent professional experience considered Demonstrated expertise in arts administration, nonprofit management or related field Proven experience in stakeholder relations, fundraising and community outreach Exceptional organizational, leadership, financial management and communication skills HOW TO APPLY Deadline to Apply: November 21, 2025 To apply include the following: a resume that clearly outlines your relevant work experience and a cover letter describing your interest in the position at the PAG and your qualifications.
