Organization Information:
On March 1, 2007 Penticton Recovery Resource Society opened Discovery House. We offer a residential abstinence-based recovery program including an initial 90 day intensive treatment program, with the option of up to one year of individual life skills and recovery training.
- Our program focuses principally on the following evidence-based treatment methodologies: 12 step facilitation, motivations interview therapy, the community reinforcement approach, and cognitive behavior therapy.
- The organization currently has 13 treatment and 12 continuing care beds, and is looking to expand by an additional 13-16 beds to better fulfill the community needs.
Position Overview:
- Reports to the Board of Directors
- The Executive Director serves as the principal staff leader, responsible for bridging the strategic governance of the Board of Directors with the operational and service delivery functions of the staff.
- This position encompasses the oversight of services, financial management, community representation, and staff development necessary to effectively and responsibly achieve the Society's mission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mission & Strategic Goals: Develop and implement operational policies and strategic plans, including the formulation of new program proposals. Report regularly to the Board on organizational operations, financial status, and progress toward strategic goals. Act as an advocate for clients and the organization within the broader recovery sector.
- Management and Personnel: Plan, organize, and direct the long-term and day-to-day operations and facilities management. Supervise, mentor, and support staff and volunteers while fostering a positive workplace culture. Ensure compliance with all relevant human resource legislation and conduct annual performance reviews for all personnel.
- Community Engagement and Public Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and community partners. Represent the organization effectively in public forums, media engagements, and relevant committees.
- Financial and Contractual Oversight: Manage financial planning, budgeting, and fundraising initiatives to ensure sustainability. Oversee the preparation and adherence to annual operating budgets. Undertake and finalize grant applications and funding proposals, ensuring all reporting requirements are met.
- Legal and Licensing Oversight: Ensure full compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory standards. Oversee and implement robust risk management policies to protect the Society, its employees, and volunteers from liability. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness for continuous improvement.
- Grant Oversight: Actively seek out grant and funding opportunities. Prepare and submit grant applications and funding proposals, ensuring all reporting requirements are met.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Social Work, or a closely related field. Proven experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a non-profit, healthcare, or social services environment.
- Core Competencies: Demonstrated strong financial management skills (budgeting, fundraising, grant writing), experience in program development and policy implementation, and exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of addiction recovery, mental health services, and harm reduction principles.
- Administrative: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and a requirement for a clear criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check.
Preferred Assets:
- Experience in a recovery or residential treatment setting.
- Familiarity with Indigenous cultural practices and a commitment to culturally competent leadership.
- Strong public speaking and advocacy capabilities.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of $110,000 - $140,000, determined by experience and qualifications.
