Health & Well‑Being 100% employer‑paid health and dental premiums Wellness benefit promotes a healthy lifestyle and well‑being Employee and Family Assistance Plan (EFAP) for a wide range of life’s challenges Maternity/Parental Leave top‑up payment available as families grow RRSP/DPSP matching program and TFSA flexibility Competitive annual vacation time and additional time off during holiday closures Comprehensive colleague recognition and bonus programs Training and professional membership support Responsibilities Carry out testing, acceptance and maintenance activities for various Victoria Class Submarine (VCS) systems and equipment Act as a Test Director and direct multidisciplinary employees during testing of submarine systems and equipment Conduct equipment troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance Contribute to solutions for moderate to high complexity problems and clearly articulate complex technical issues, solutions and risks to stakeholders Lead small to medium sized teams to deliver assigned projects or tasks Provide mentorship or guidance for other Test Specialists Record defects using Babcock Canada IT applications Be responsive to Commissioning Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment Draft and review test documentation and work instructions Draft and review lockout/tagout documentation required to make systems safe and conduct commissioning activities Identify risks and opportunities during the course of testing and maintenance Other duties as required Ideal Candidate Strong technical skills including post‑secondary education; degree, diploma or certificate in electrical engineering technology or equivalent experience Registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) with the applicable provincial association, or eligibility to complete such registration within 12 months of commencing employment 8+ years of related technical experience Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling, naval vessel or submarine operational experience an asset Experience operating, testing/commissioning electrical systems an asset Physical ability to climb and descend ladders and stairs to access work areas and walk or stand for extended periods Physical dexterity to work in confined spaces and limited room for movement; comfortable working on scaffolding at heights and around water Comfortable working in an industrial environment and around moving equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) Preferred knowledge in electrical technologies: AC systems and power distribution control systems; DC control systems/motor controls/generators; lead acid or lithium‑ion battery systems; fibre‑optic applications; uninterrupted power supplies and switching; functional and non‑functional system performance testing in new construction or retro‑commissioning Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal Strong computer skills including MS Office suite Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Babcock is committed to promoting a workforce without boundaries.
