Position: Manager, Sports Partnerships

Reports to: Director, Marketing Partnerships

Position Term: Full Time Permanent

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing Partnerships, the Manager, Sports Partnerships is a key leadership role responsible for driving the development and execution of comprehensive sports partnership strategies and initiatives.

This role involves cultivating and managing relationships with sports organizations, athletes, and other key stakeholders. By leveraging the influence and reach of the sports community, the Manager, Sports Partnerships will significantly contribute to advancing our mission and expanding our impact.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports, a deep understanding of partnership development, and a commitment to the values of World Vision Canada.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide input into the Strategic Planning process for Sports Partnerships and formulate strategic and operational objectives; this includes planning for management of staff and resources to ensure the strategic priorities of the Sports Partnerships team and the organization are met.
  • Execute monthly and quarterly reviews of strategic objectives and plans to ensure that Sports Partnerships goals are achieved.
  • Partake in the budgeting process, planning annual budgets for Sports Partnerships; allocate funds to meet objectives and perform monthly & quarterly reviews to ensure stewardship and budget management.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the Sports Partnerships Team ensuring Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), and other key performance targets are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Lead strategy and outreach efforts with sports partners and ambassadors to develop new, innovative, and high impact partnerships in the sports space.
  • Negotiate contracts, agreements and business terms that demonstrate mutual benefit while adhering to strategic budget and stewardship commitments and best practices.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze industry trends and best practices and recommend opportunities for growth and expansion of market presence.
  • Maintain a high standard of excellence in relationship management, servicing and supporting all partners with continuous communication, education in support of our mission, customer insights, and strategy development.
  • Operate within an agile scrum framework.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sports marketing, or related field; or equivalent work experience; 5-7 years.
  • Proven success in a marketing, strategy and/ or partnership marketing role, preferably in a professional sports environment.
  • Measurable track record with fundraising and public engagement events, sponsorship, and event management preferably working with a non-profit.
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally to drive multiple time-sensitive, high-priority projects.
  • Understands the requirements of a leader in an outward-facing role; and has highly developed skills in navigating corporate environments while engaging others for mutual wins.
  • High level negotiation experience and demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, financial, communication and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship/partnership management with a proven track record of collaboration, negotiation, and reciprocity.
  • Highly skilled at networking and enhancing corporate relations.
  • Demonstrated high level of personal ownership, collaborative teamwork, holistic value-centric perspective, work adaptability.
  • Advanced organizational, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings/weekends as events require; some travel required.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and with Agile principles considered an asset.
  • Experience with corporate sponsorships is considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires the ability to travel for business and the ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, as required.
