Programmer, Events and Community Development (Contract up to 15 Months) Join to apply for the Programmer, Events and Community Development (Contract up to 15 Months) role at Town of Caledon directly reporting to the Coordinator, Events. Opportunity This role is responsible for effectively delivering, administering and supervising various initiatives and events while promoting access and equitable opportunities for residents. The Programmer provides supervision to volunteers, contract and part‑time staff and coordinates community engagement initiatives while ensuring customer satisfaction and safety. Responsibilities Assist in the planning, development and implementation of a variety of community events, programs, services and initiatives, including diverse, equitable and inclusive opportunities. Assist with the coordination and support of community‑led events through the Caledon Events Advisory Team (CEAT), ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations. Liaise and represent the Town of Caledon while working with community partners, non‑profit organizations, schools, businesses and the general community. Assist in the implementation of policies, procedures and programs that support the delivery of corporate, recreation and community events. Respond to emergencies, customer inquiries and complaints, maintaining a positive relationship between the public, outside agencies and internal staff at all times. Support town and community events as required to ensure service excellence and customer satisfaction. Develop and facilitate training for event volunteers and staff, collaborating with relevant parties to ensure a comprehensive training program. Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate volunteers in collaboration with Coordinators. Support various event committees, providing logistic support to community‑led events. Oversee and responsibly track operational expenditures and expenses for events and initiatives. Maintain responsibility for assigned duties within the departmental and/or corporate Business Continuity Plan. Participate in all mandatory training requirements. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Town of Caledon’s Policies and Procedures, and established industry guidelines, and confirm all supervised staff are also in compliance. Ideal Candidate We are seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented professional with a post‑secondary diploma or degree in Event Management, Recreation Services or a closely related field. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of experience in an event setting, demonstrating strong organizational and coordination skills. The successful candidate will possess exceptional customer service abilities that reflect Caledon’s quality standards, be accurate, courteous, responsive and easy to navigate. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to obtain, exchange and share information effectively in a professional manner. The candidate should demonstrate initiative, professionalism and teamwork while maintaining composure in dynamic event environments. They should be adaptable, efficient under pressure and committed to delivering high‑quality service to residents, vendors and stakeholders. Compensation Hourly wage range: $36.95 – $46.19 CAD. Qualifications Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate.
