This role will focus on the design, implementation, and management of instrumentation and control systems, including advanced process control systems, for existing and new processes within Food Manufacturing facilities using state-of-the-art technologies. The position can either be based in Florenceville - NB or Oakbrook - Chicago.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. An expert in Model Predictive Controls and Plant PLC Controls Systems, the applicant will support process automation initiatives in food manufacturing facilities.
  2. Manage capital projects to meet deadlines and budgets utilizing solid project management principles.
  3. Identify and effectively utilize project resources.
  4. Develop and review process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and the ability to relate process P&ID to design and implementation of controls structure.
  5. Oversee the design and review of equipment and systems using established standards.
  6. Specification and sizing of control devices and instruments.
  7. Review new technology for applicability and benefits to current manufacturing and controls methods.
  8. Development of performance specifications for equipment vendors, equipment selection and bid tabulations.
  9. Functioning as a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced engineering concepts, techniques, and standards in the food industry.
  10. Assist in planning of electrical and controls portion of capital projects in terms of scope development, cost development and management, and scheduling.
  11. Includes directing activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements.
  12. Work with finance, production, and safety to develop justifications for capital projects and prepare the Requests for Capital Expenditures in a timely and accurate fashion.
  13. Preparation of electrical installation tender documents.
  14. Perform supplier site visits to ensure compatibility of equipment designs with current plant configurations.
  15. Produce site visit reports, contractor job meeting minutes, project material listings, purchase orders, installation schedules and any other installations of systems.
  16. Manage release of design input to suppliers (integrators, contractors, hardware suppliers, etc.).
  17. Manage the resolution of technical issues identified by suppliers.
  18. Manage technical documents provided by suppliers.
  19. Acquire and negotiate electrical contractor bids.
  20. Assist in design of instrumentation systems for plant expansions, including the development of field and control room instrumentation specifications.
Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent related experience.
Experience: Five or more years of experience directly related to food plant processing controls.
Skills: Allen Bradley RSLogix, ControlLogix, Allen Bradley FactoryTalk View SE, AutoCAD.
Others: Familiar with industrial control networks, plant electrical power distribution systems, industrial motor control experience, expect travel within the US and Canada of roughly 50%.
