Primary Focus:

The CNC Machinist / Programmer is responsible for setting up, operating, and programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to produce precision components. They play a crucial role in ensuring manufacturing efficiency, quality control, and adherence to technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up CNC machines (mills and/or lathes) to perform machining operations.
  • Load materials and install tooling according to job specifications.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and adherence to quality standards.
  • Adjust machine settings to optimize production and minimize errors.
  • Develop CNC programs using CAM software (such as Mastercam or similar).
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files to generate machining instructions.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feed rates for each operation.
  • Conduct tool offsets and tool changes as required during production runs.
  • Perform in-process inspection and use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Make adjustments to machine settings or offsets to ensure product quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Document and record inspection results and production data as per company procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, with proficiency in machine setup, operation, and programming.
  • Proficiency in CAM software and G-code programming (Mastercam experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting parameters.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM models.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality control processes.
  • High attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Diploma or certification in CNC machining or a related field is preferred.
