Student, Investigations Support - Hybrid Location: Edmonton or Red Deer, AlbertaEmployment Type: Student, 4 month termSalary Range: $21.05 - $28.53 per hour The Opportunity The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is recruiting a Summer Student to join the talented Major Investigations Team in the Regulatory Compliance branch. The Major Investigations Team serves as the enforcement arm of the AER and is responsible for investigating breaches of energy and environmental legislation. As a Student, Investigations Support, you will assist in enhancing the AER’s enforcement program by working alongside investigators and subject matter experts. Your responsibilities will include organizing and cataloguing historical case files, improving the accuracy of records, and helping to build a comprehensive repository of investigation outcomes. What your day-to-day will look like: Engage in project-based work aligned with the activities and initiatives of the Major Investigations Team. Work alongside Investigation Support and Investigators to catalogue evidence, case files, and enforcement outcomes. Assist with the administration of the investigation program by supporting the triage, intake, and assignment process. Compile investigation data to identify trends and communicate enforcement outcomes. What we’re looking for in you: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Criminology, Paralegal Studies, Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field. Proficiency with common business tools and systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Adobe is preferred. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, with a strong aptitude for exploring and developing competency in emerging systems. An effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills. A collaborative team player who contributes positively and makes a meaningful impact. Additional Information: Proof of enrollment in a registered post‑secondary institution including enrollment in the semester following the work term, or enrollment in a registered co‑op program will be a condition of hire.
