We’re looking for passionate developers who want to work across the full robotics stack and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment.Role OverviewWe are hiring a General Robotics Developer to join our full-time engineering team. This role is ideal for experienced developers comfortable writing high-performance software in C++, Python, and C, with experience building multi-nodal, real-time systems. You will work on everything from hardware control loops to high-level coordination software across distributed robotic systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain software in C++, C, and Python for real-time control, coordination, and telemetry across robotic systemsArchitect and implement multi-nodal codebases that manage communications between robotic components, edge processors, and control dashboardsDesign robust inter-process communication using protocols like ZeroMQ, or custom WebSocket layersIntegrate sensors (IMUs, encoders, vision) and actuators with real-time safety and performance constraintsContribute to simulation, calibration, and testing infrastructure for validating new algorithms and hardwareCollaborate with embedded engineers and mechanical designers to ensure seamless system integrationContribute to continuous integration pipelines and debugging/testing frameworksParticipate in design reviews, bring-up, and field testing of new robotic platformsRequired Skills and QualificationsBachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related disciplineStrong experience with C++ (modern standards), C, and PythonDeep understanding of real-time, embedded, and low-latency software systemsExperience building distributed or multi-nodal systems with inter-process communicationComfortable working in Linux environments and using command-line toolsFamiliarity with build systems such as CMake, Make, and scripting with BashExperience using version control (Git) in collaborative environmentsStrong problem-solving ability and a hands-on, detail-oriented approachAbility to read schematics, interpret datasheets, and debug hardware/software integrationBonus Skills (Not Required, but Nice to Have)ROS1/ROS2 experienceExperience with microcontroller platforms (STM32, ESP32)Exposure to AI/ML in robotic applicationsWebSocket/REST API developmentFamiliarity with CAN, SPI, UART, and other hardware protocolsExposure to simulation tools like Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or custom rigsJob DetailsLocation: Cambridge, OntarioWork Environment: In-person (on-site at our Waterloo facility)Type: Full-timeCompensation: Competitive salary (based on experience)Health Insurance: ProvidedGrowth: Regular performance evaluations with potential for salary increases and stock option participation #J-18808-Ljbffr
