Role and Facility Information Location: Williams Lake is in BC’s Central Interior Region, otherwise known as the Cariboo Chilcotin Region, and is famous for the annual Williams Lake Stampede. There is a population of approximately 35,000 in Williams Lake and surrounding areas with a total population of 62,000 for the Cariboo Regional District. A vast array of lakes, rivers and hiking and biking trails make Williams Lake and the surrounding area a great place for outdoor enthusiasts to camp, fish, hunt and play during the summer months while winter months bring the enjoyment of snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and ice fishing. Williams Lake has something for everyone. Position: We have an excellent opportunity for a General Surgeon to join our team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital. There are currently two full‑time General Surgeons at the site. If you are passionate about your work and are looking for a broad surgical practice in a collegial supportive group and welcoming community setting where you can enjoy endless lifestyle opportunities, apply today and discover the rewards of true work life balance There is a balance between office, endoscopy and operating room procedures, with five OR and five endoscopy days available at CMH per month in addition to bi‑monthly ACU days for minor procedures. A requirement to perform endoscopic procedures, including on‑call management of GI bleeds, is also expected. The current General Surgeons have a combined office practice and a new addition would be welcomed. An optional teaching component with third‑year medical students and residents through UBC is available. The closest tertiary hospital is RIH and is three hours away. Currently, CMH is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. The hospital offers ER, OR, Med‑Surg, and Obstetrical units. Lab, diagnostic imaging and an outpatient hemodialysis unit are operated on‑site. The redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital and renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in‑patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department and a mental‑health unit. Compensation Compensation Type: Fee‑for‑ServiceEstimated Remuneration: $300,000 - $500,000, plus MOCAP level 1. Benefits and Incentives May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including a retention premium of 12.32%, a retention flat fee of $19,092, relocation funding of $9,000 - $15,000 based on move location, and a recruitment incentive of $15,000. Other benefits/incentives include an annual retention of $19,092.48, up to $6,600 per year in Rural CME after four years in practice, and rural incentives subject to change.
