At Merit Kitchens, the Junior Machine Operator will interpret paperwork and use their machine operation background to fabricate wood products through a variety of computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The Junior Machine Operator will ensure the pieces that have gone through the machine meet the Merit standard. Key Responsibilities Evaluate daily work orders to confirm completion. Read paperwork to select jobs and understand the work required to be done on the machine. Set up and operate one or more computerized or manual woodworking machines. Ensure piece count is correct and paperwork is filled in correctly. Operate controls, set offsets, and inspect parts for conformance to requirements. Operate pre-set special purpose woodworking machines to fabricate wood products. Measure finished products to ensure accuracy to the paperwork attached. Load and remove completed work pieces manually. Transport finished materials and parts to the appropriate subsequent department. Verify all parts and pieces are up to the Merit standard and functionality. Operate and maintain tools, machinery and equipment to ensure compliance and safety. Contribute and participate in the effective use of the quality control system and provide recommendations to the Lead Hand of the area. Ensure all machines you have operated on are shut down by the end of the production day. Ensure your workstation is clean in between work orders, and at the start and end of the production day. Candidate Requirements 1+ year of CNC machinery operating experience. Experience in cabinetry or manufacturing environment is considered an asset. Understand the safe operation of machinery. Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials. Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Effective written and oral communication skills. Time management, organization, and adaptability skills. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Basic computer skills.
