The college is currently seeking qualified professionals to teach courses part-time during the day, in the programs, starting September 2024. We are looking for individuals who could teach the following courses:

  1. Pressure Enthalpy & Refrigerants
  2. Material Handling Procedures
  3. Heating & Refrigeration theory and practice

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Classes are held Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. and occasionally into the evening. Shop classes are entirely in person, whereas theory classes may be a combination of both in-person and online.

You would be joining a program team that will provide you with orientation, course material, and support. Conestoga has the largest department in the province, which delivers workshops and supports faculty's professional development. Come join us and help develop tomorrow's skilled trade workforce

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
  • Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including in shop, online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement, assume responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
  • Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintaining course materials within this system
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment that supports the diversity of students' cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
  • Collaborate and build relations with other program faculty
Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • 313A Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic Certificate of Qualification required
  • Additional 313A Certificate of Apprenticeship is preferred
  • Minimum of five years of related industry experience
  • Gas licenses – G2 or G1 are considered an asset
  • Previous adult or post-secondary teaching experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with curriculum development is an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. D2L, Zoom) is an asset
  • Strong leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
