Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Technician to join our team at the Waterloo Catholic District School Board. As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for performing emergency services and repairs to commercial HVAC systems, including roof top units, heat pumps, split systems, boiler systems, and air conditioning units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to commercial HVAC systems, including troubleshooting and diagnosing issues
  • Service and repair compressors, motors, heating sections, and damper assemblies
  • Troubleshoot heating and cooling controls, including BAS systems
  • Set up and test equipment, and conduct efficiency appraisals on commercial HVAC systems
  • Check efficiency outputs and parameters of HVAC systems
  • Replace defective, leaking, discolored, and worn components
  • Perform shut-downs and lockouts to systems
  • Make adjustments to pressures and controls, and clean and lubricate components
  • Check calibrations, reassemble and repair components and systems
  • Start-ups, test, and charge systems
Requirements
  • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades
  • Valid Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Certificate 313A
  • Valid TSSA Gas Fitter certificate (G1)
  • Minimum three (3) years related experience in heat pumps and HVAC service at a comparable work site on primarily commercial type HVAC equipment
  • Valid class G driver's license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to troubleshoot related electrical control systems
  • Self-motivated, safety conscious, excellent interpersonal and strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, blueprints, and manufacturers' literature
  • Working knowledge of W.H.M.I.S. 2015 system and safe handling of hazardous materials
  • Good computer skills
