Senior Operations Supervisor – Warehouse – Night Shift Position Summary: Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hour‑based workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, cross‑docking and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Supervises most processes directly, including workforce and equipment scheduling. Responsible for making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level. Involved in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary. Reviews truck runs based on location of accounts, volume, costs, customer requirements and private fleet utilization. Reviews daily orders for additional private fleet opportunities. Shift: Monday to Friday, Night Shift – flexibility required depending on business needs. Salary: $60,400 to $81,400. Senior Operations Supervisor will be bonus‑eligible based on performance and location performance, with potential to earn up to 12% of base for maximum performance. Major Responsibilities People Communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable. Interview hourly associates and provide hiring recommendations. Monitor attendance, productivity and other performance markers; provide counseling or recognition as needed. Operations Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch and proper documentation and procedure control. Evaluate and recommend changes in preferred work methods to increase productivity. Assist in new associate training and provide relief coverage when associates are absent. Maintain knowledge of site operating systems for compliance and exception resolution. Complete all necessary records and reports accurately and timely. Finance Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy, returns and damages. Understand the relationship between decision‑making and profitability. Manage associates’ working hours to minimize overtime while meeting productivity targets. Safety Manage day‑to‑day activities in alignment with the location safety strategy. Provide communication, training and feedback to ensure safe performance. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies. Growth / Customer Experience Understand location‑specific customer goals and objectives. Communicate commitment to helping customers meet their objectives. Identify areas for continuous improvement. Fleet / Assets Plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet/warehouse equipment. Ensure associates understand safe and efficient operation of equipment. Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications 2–4 years related functional experience. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job. Willingness to travel as necessary, work required schedule and location, complete Penske employment application and submit to reference verification. Physical Requirements Typical demands include reading, verbal/written communication, memory and understanding of instructions. Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle and reach; lift or move up to 25 lbs (12 kg) occasionally. Requires close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and focus adjustment.
