Duties Senior Advisor for Reconciliation and Engagement, based in Nunatsiavut, is a key member of the Arctic Operations team, ensuring delivery of Indigenous engagement, educational, and reporting initiatives, supporting Indigenous co‑governance tables and collaboration with other departments. Manage and support coordination of regional bilateral, co‑management, and important partner meetings that strengthen relationships with partners, stakeholders, and the Nunatsiavut Government. As Nunatsiavut senior liaison, contribute to briefing notes, memos, speaking points, and other supporting documents to assist senior management in Nunatsiavut initiatives. Play a key role supporting senior management at regional meetings as needed. Support development and implementation of Arctic and Indigenous hiring strategies and ensure retention and promotion of staff in Inuit Nunangat. Intent of the processThe intent of this process is to staff 1 position on an indeterminate basis in the Nunatsiavut Region. This process may be used by DFO and other Government Departments (OGDs) to staff positions in Nunatsiavut. Important Financial Information: Successful candidates may be eligible for the reimbursement of relocation costs. Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) range from $18,000 to $31,000, which is based on if the employee has dependents. Vacation Travel Assistance is provided twice annually for each eligible member of the household. Experience developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal or external stakeholders and rights holders (such as Indigenous organizations, non‑government‑al organizations (NGOs), other government departments, provincial and/or territorial agencies). Experience developing briefing, advisory documents or reporting materials to support management. Experience in providing coordination services to management regarding Northern and Indigenous engagement and consultation. Experience living or working in the North or working on Arctic‑related files. Experience delivering programs to Indigenous communities. (Experiences can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.) Applied / assessed at a later date Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and Northern issues. Knowledge of federal, provincial, territorial, and Indigenous organizations and governments in the North. Proficiency in creating vision and strategy. Ability to mobilize people.
