The Medical Director is accountable to the Chief of Complex Care, providing clinical leadership within defined medical services of their assigned program. This includes engagement with the Chief of Complex Care and/or program Director and Managers in establishing and aligning clinical standards for client care within a defined service area in consultation with other leaders within the Clinical and Chief Nursing Executive division.


The Medical Director, working within an interdisciplinary team, provides medical care advice to the Chief of Complex Care and/or program Manager and clinical colleagues, provides teaching and clinical guidance to medical learners and clinical staff, and works in concert with members of the interdisciplinary team to establish a work environment conducive to team development.


The Medical Director collaborates with the Chief of Complex Care, physicians, and program leadership within their specific service area to support and operationalize the strategic goals of the program and establish plans that align with the short and long-range plans of the Clinical and Chief Nursing Executive division.



Qualification:

Education/Experience:

  1. Licensed to practice medicine with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and/or Registration as a Fellow in Family Practice or other related specialty with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.
  2. Minimum of two years clinical experience and one year of administrative/leadership experience is preferred.
  3. Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and system-focused decision-making.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
  5. Experience and additional training in complex wound management preferred.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  1. As travel between work locations is necessary, access to timely and convenient transportation, whether private or public, is essential.
  2. This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
