Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance, the Director oversees accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, funder reporting, compliance, and audits in a multi-funder environment. This role ensures accurate, timely, and transparent financial information to support decision-making at the senior leadership and Board levels. The Director manages the Finance team, drives efficiency in financial processes, and supports organizational risk management while maintaining strong relationships with funders, auditors, and regulatory bodies.Position DetailsJob Competition #: job2025.328Closing Date: Midnight, December 10, 2025Job: Director of FinanceDepartment: FinancePosition Type: Permanent Full-Time, 1 FTEHours: 80 hours bi-weeklyHourly Range: $125,000.00 – $130,000.00 annuallySchedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm with 30 minutes unpaid breakStart Date: As soon as possibleResponsibilitiesOversee all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with policies, legislation, and audit standards.Lead the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Vice-President, Executive Directors, and Program Managers.Produce accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis and recommendations.Lead year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.Ensure compliance with CRA, funder requirements, and legislative standards.Provide strategic oversight and technical direction to the finance group to ensure the accounting, budgeting, business, payroll and auditing procedures are in place and functioning properly; ensure practices comply with external and internal audit requirements.Review, analyze and interpret periodic financial results, providing direction to senior management on variances and trends.Maintain financial records for each program to facilitate management reports and deliver financials to stakeholders including the Board and funders.Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation and assist in funding application budgets.Lead and support financing activities, including cash flow forecasting and risk management.QualificationsChartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field (Master’s degree an asset).Minimum 10 years of progressive senior-level financial management experience, including team leadership.Experience with non-profit, multi-funder, and multi-site financial operations preferred.Advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and financial systems such as Sage 300/Accpac; strong knowledge of Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred.Proven experience implementing accounting and financial reporting systems.Knowledge of risk management, governance, and compliance frameworks.Ability to generate analytical reports and navigate financial systems and payroll platforms.Ability to understand, communicate and support RainCity’s mission and Housing First and Harm Reduction approaches.Skills and CompetenciesStrategic ThinkingFinancial AcumenProblem Solving/JudgementCommunicationLeadershipWork Environment and DiversityOffice environment; Hybrid: three days in the office plus required meetings when needed.Permanent full-time, salaried.RainCity is committed to diversity, inclusion and safety in the workplace.
