A Little About You

  • Describe your approach to community planning and outline the scale of planning you are:
    • a) most experienced in, and
    • b) most excited to work in as you continue to develop your career.

Your resume should show us:

  • 5+ years of relevant land use planning or land development experience
  • A Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Geography, Public Policy or a related discipline
  • Membership in Alberta Professional Planners Institute/Canadian Institute of Planners (APPI/CIP)
  • Experience in business development and project management
  • Experience in the implementation of provincial and local planning policies and processes
  • Experience with public engagement processes and strategies (IAP2 an asset)
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a high attention to detail
  • Past representation of clients on land development application submissions
  • Involvement in planning or land development professional associations
  • Experience reviewing land development applications on behalf of municipalities
  • Writing journal articles, giving presentations at conferences, and/or teaching land use planning courses

A Little More About the Role

Our Edmonton office is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and professional Intermediate Community Planner to join our team. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on, and eventually lead, a variety of projects including Municipal Development Plans, Land Use Bylaws, Intermunicipal Development Plans, Area Structure Plans, Outline Plans, Rezonings, Subdivisions, and project management and coordination.

Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate is a solution-oriented, confident person with a team mentality. Your ability to listen, interpret, and be flexible in the solutions delivered to our clients will be key to your success. While no two days may look the same, you can expect to:

  • Work as a part of a multidisciplinary OneISL team to deliver planning projects
  • L ead, manage and support multiple planning projects and undertake a range of planning assignments
  • Conduct research, analysis, report writing, and business development
  • Review, and manage the approval process for multiple land use planning applications
  • Be an active participant in client meetings to build and foster client relationships
  • Travel to client municipalities to support project deliverables, engage with the public and learn about the community
