**Job description**:
We have a current opportunity for a Piping Planner on a contract basis for the up coming Turnaround for this fall 2023. The position will be based in Fort Saskatchewan.

Working within this world class organization, you will be an integral part of the Turnaround Planning team. Your role as Piping Planner for Turnaround (TAR) will include coordinating and planning piping-related activities during our client's turnaround event. Turnarounds are scheduled maintenance and inspection periods when production units are temporarily shut down, and equipment is serviced, repaired, or replaced. The Piping Planner for TAR is responsible for ensuring that piping systems are effectively planned, executed, and restored to operational readiness within the scheduled timeframe.

**Key Responsibilities for the incumbent may also include**:
Collaborate with TAR teams, maintenance planners, and engineering departments to a comprehensive TAR plan that encompasses all piping-related activities. Ensure alignment with overall TAR objectives and schedules.

Define the scope of piping-related work for the TAR, including inspection, maintenance, repair, replacement, and testing of piping systems. Identify critical paths and prioritize tasks to minimize downtime.

Coordinate with TAR planners and schedulers to allocate resources, manpower, equipment, and materials necessary for piping activities during the TAR.

Oversee the required execution of piping-related work during the TAR, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and project specifications. Monitor progress and address any deviations from the plan.

Coordinate shutdown and start-up procedures for piping systems, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely and efficiently.

Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials, spare parts, and equipment required for piping work during the TAR.

Interface with contractors and subcontractors involved in piping-related activities. Ensure that any contractor performance, safety compliance, and quality standards are met.

Identify potential risks and hazards associated with TAR piping activities. Develop mitigation strategies and emergency response plans to ensure the safety of personnel and assets.

Maintain accurate records of all TAR-related piping activities, including work progress, inspection reports, test results, and any deviations from the plan. Generate comprehensive reports for management and regulatory purposes.

Participate in post-TAR evaluations to analyse successes and challenges in piping-related activities. Share insights and recommendations to improve future TAR planning and execution.

**Qualifications and Requirements to be successful include**:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Turnaround Objectives, Strategies, and Interfaces.
- Experience with Turnaround Preparation & Planning.
- Experience with Information Management and Communication.
- Experience with Schedule, Resource, and Cost Controls.
- Experience with turnaround planning and execution processes.
- Proficiency in Primavera software, piping design software, and project management tools.
- Strong knowledge of piping codes, standards, and industry regulations.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong leadership qualities and the ability to manage teams and contractors.
- Safety-conscious mindset with a focus on risk assessment and mitigation.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit).
- Clean and valid driver's licence.

The Piping Planner for Turnaround (TAR) is a pivotal role in ensuring the successful planning and execution of piping-related activities during scheduled maintenance events. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a thorough understanding of the intricacies of turnaround processes within the oil and gas sector.
