An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Epilepsy Nurse Specialist. The successful candidate will lead and manage the Epilepsy team as a specialist resource for patients, general practitioners, nursing colleagues and other health care professionals. They will be responsible for leading and developing the team to meet the requirements of the Epilepsy service. Responsibilities Provide specialist evidence‑based input to epilepsy patient groups, carers and other health care professionals. Offer a nurse‑led service to the population of Greater Glasgow and Clyde and work collaboratively with clinical colleagues to lead the development of services within epilepsy care. Provide specialist education and training to others, as well as supervision and assessment for the Epilepsy Service. Conduct case management of adult patients, offering support, expertise and knowledge within the LD service as required. Carry out comprehensive assessment using experience and knowledge to discuss management options, assess and evaluate patients, actively manage patients and involve carers in their care. Promote empowerment of patients, ensuring that practice is in line with nationally agreed guidance and monitoring and developing written protocols to guide staff in the care of patients with seizures and epilepsy. Work a caseload of patients Monday to Friday. Qualifications Band 7 or equivalent advanced nursing role experience. Experience in epilepsy or a related specialty preferred. Ability to clinically assess patients and, when possible, medical prescribing experience is beneficial and advantageous.
