Job description
Clear Strategy is seeking a Policy and Government Affairs Director to join our team. Reporting to the Vice President, this individual will serve as a core member of the Clear Strategy team, leading an exciting client roster and providing expertise in government affairs, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, policy and advocacy.

We are building an agency that thinks about government and public affairs differently, and we are looking for candidates who are excited to build with us. This role is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role and work with our team of experienced public affairs professionals.

This role is a perfect fit for someone who has agency experience leading the development of policy and government relations strategies, and executing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, curious, and enjoys working in a dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will lead several critical accounts that will involve project management, people management, and business development.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Leading a portfolio of client accounts from strategy to execution, acting as the main day-to-day client contact, and managing account operations.
Acting as a senior advisor to clients, providing detailed and strategic counsel on government and public affairs needs at the federal, provincial and municipal levels.
Ensuring client delivery always meets Clear Strategy’s standards.
Establishing and growing trust with our clients.
Contributing to ongoing company success by proactively identifying business development and client expansion opportunities, as well as areas for operational improvements and efficiencies.

Preferred skills & qualifications
At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in Canadian government or public affairs.
Previous consulting experience leading multiple accounts while delivering a high standard of service and impactful solutions.
Prior government experience, with a strong record of success engaging government officials across political offices and within the public service.
Prior experience in small business or technology policy and a strong understanding of the technology policy environment in Canada is a plus.
Experience in using, interpreting and advising on:
Legislative tracking in Canada, with a knowledge base of parliamentary and legislative processes in order to provide counsel and support across the agency.
Monitoring tools to create routine and issues-based monitoring reports, and experience in managing other team members to deliver monitoring reports.
Experience with event strategy and management.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, the ability to take initiative, be flexible and adapt is critical.
