We are seeking an Indigenous and Community Relations Advisor to lead strategic initiatives, and provide expertise and management of cultural engagement, consultation, and reporting. Key Accountabilities Plan and execute corporate initiatives and events to strengthen relationships. Develop and implement community engagement strategies focused on environment, reclamation, and water stewardship. Conduct formal consultation for mining and in situ projects in compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure adherence to Alberta Consultation Office (ACO) guidelines, including documentation and reporting. Manage data collection and analysis to support stewardship and financial reporting. Prepare presentations, reports, and narratives to communicate progress and impact to senior leadership and external stakeholders. Collaborate with internal teams to integrate Indigenous perspectives and influence cross-functional alignment with reconciliation goals. Support corporate reconciliation initiatives and contribute to sustainability objectives. Minimum Requirements Experience: Proven background in Indigenous relations, community engagement, or corporate social responsibility at a senior level. Consultation Expertise: Demonstrated ability to deliver formal consultation for projects and meet Alberta Consultation Office (ACO) requirements. Leadership: Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to initiate and drive new initiatives. Cultural Competence: Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and protocols. Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis, compliance reporting, and stewardship frameworks. Communication: Exceptional communication and influencing skills to engage senior leaders and external stakeholders effectively. Education: University degree in a related discipline (e.g., social sciences, environmental studies, engineering, business, communications). Nice to have Familiarity with local Indigenous communities in and around the RMWB. Experience with sustainability reporting and disclosure frameworks. Familiarity with oil sands operations and energy sector context. Location & other key details This is an in-office based role based in Calgary or Fort McMurray with standard hours of work being a regular 40‑hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work or on‑call hours based on business needs. Frequent travel to local communities is expected (approximately 30‑50% of time). Participate in on‑call rotation for community notifications.
