This role also leads and manages the Tax team, providing leadership, guidance, and expertise. The Senior Manager works closely with business line stakeholders and control partners across TD Wealth. The Senior Manager reports to the AVP, Regulatory Affairs, providing leadership in managing a team that provides tax regulatory guidance and oversight to ensure regulatory requirements are met, and to provide recommendations as appropriate to TD Wealth partners.The successful candidate will focus on Tax and will work closely with partners across the organization including executives in the various Wealth lines of business, Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, Products, Credit, Operations, Technology/Delivery, among others. The role\'s mandate is to promote best practices and compliance through the review and analysis of Canadian and U.S. Tax.We are looking for a self-motivated and innovative individual who has experience in a highly complex and diverse function, with ability to grow talent, develop skills, achieve career goals, support project/initiative success and achieve business results.Primary ResponsibilitiesAct as a subject matter expert and central point of reference for internal business partners regarding Canadian and U.S. Tax, providing guidance and supportBuild effective relationships with internal stakeholders and cross-functional working groupsRemain current in developments in legislative and operational matters related to Canadian and U.S. Tax and assess implicationsWork with internal and external legal counsel, team members, and other stakeholders to ensure content is accurate and compliant with applicable Tax laws and regulatory bodiesParticipate in and help lead TD Wealth Tax governance committees and working groupsPrepare and present materials to executives on activities, issues, status updates, KPIs and potential risk with clear communicationPromote strong governance and control practices across Wealth lines and identify opportunities for improvementProvide tax expertise and guidance on complex corporate actions, regulatory requirements and tax-related communicationsMonitor tax regulatory changes and collaborate with Wealth partners to assess risks and support risk managementManage the overall team, providing leadership, guidance and ensuring adherence to enterprise frameworksSupport the team in staying knowledgeable on emerging issues and evolving Tax regulatory requirementsHelp build and lead a high-performing team; provide feedback, performance reviews, coaching, and developmentSupport an environment where teams escalate challenges and celebrate milestonesRecruit for all hires to ensure a diverse, qualified workforceEstablish and foster a cohesive team environment that supports diversity and common goalsQualifications10 years of tax-function experience with expert knowledge of Canadian income tax, QI, FATCA & CRSIn-depth knowledge of U.S. tax reporting requirements (forms 1099, 1042, 1042-S)Knowledge of IRC Chapters 3 and 4 and related Treasury RegulationsKnowledge of U.S. withholding certificates (W-9, W-8) and related reportingPostgraduate degree (Master\'s) is an assetProfessional designations in Accounting and/or Law are assetsUnderstanding of dividend and corporate action conceptsPeople management experience including hiring, goal setting, coaching, and strategic directionStrong analytical, critical thinking, and proactive problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills, including ability to prepare executive-level decks and reportsExcellent organizational skills and ability to summarize large amounts of information for stakeholdersAbility to take initiative, work independently and manage multiple tasksAbility to build strong relationships and influence senior stakeholdersAbility to manage work under tight timelines and changing prioritiesAdvanced skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)Who We AreTD is a leading global financial institution.
