Hatch is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Trainee – New Graduate, reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead Engineer. You will support projects globally working from the Sudbury office with potential opportunities to work in other Hatch offices and at project job sites. The Mechanical group is comprised of professional engineers, designers and technologists. We are looking for a new or recent Mechanical Engineering graduate to join our group that is eager to be involved in complex small and large‑scale mining and other industrial type projects, who can demonstrate their keen problem‑solving skills in developing practical solutions. The candidate must be a self‑motivated individual capable of working both independently and within a team environment. Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups. Prepare equipment specification packages, and construction work packages to be checked by senior colleagues to be used by internal and external stakeholders. Become knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, analytical software and tools, piping systems and specifications, discipline workflows and execution, and other industrial components/processes you are assigned to assess. Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities. Perform field verification and provide field support during construction. Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise. You Bring To The Role Must be working towards graduating in 2026, or recently graduated, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Excel academically while being actively involved in extra‑curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community. Previous relevant coop and summer work terms or internships in Mechanical engineering is an asset. Academic or work experience with Mechanical software AFT, Fathom, Ansys, Sidewinder, MathCAD, and Bentley MicroStation CAD software is an asset. Competencies (knowledge, Skill, Attributes) Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects. Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges. Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges.
