Lead Accountant We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting operations for multiple related companies within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This senior-level role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives on managing complex financial processes, maintaining compliance, and working closely with company principals and external partners. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong initiative, accuracy, and the ability to “own the work” from start to finish. Why work with this company? Join a fast-paced and dynamic organization deeply connected to the growth and development of the city. You will work closely with ownership in an exciting, hands‑on environment where no two days are the same. The culture is engaging, supportive, and fun—complete with summer events, team celebrations, and everyday perks. Enjoy great benefits, a pension plan, free parking, and the chance to truly own your work in a collaborative, people‑focused workplace. Key Responsibilities Manage full-cycle payroll for salaried and hourly staff, ensuring compliance with all payroll and statutory requirements. Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, process payments, manage collections, and ensure timely follow‑up. Prepare and process trust and general account transactions, including commission payouts, deposits, and reconciliations. Handle intercompany accounting, cash calls, and reconcile multiple bank and credit‑card accounts. Administer corporate benefits, pension, and health‑spending accounts. Ensure timely remittance of GST, corporate taxes, and other filings. Support monthly reporting and year‑end preparation, working with external accountants and auditors as needed. Maintain and improve accounting systems (Sage and Excel), ensuring accurate coding, costing, and allocation across business units. Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, bank reporting, and cash‑flow forecasts for senior leadership. Serve as the key contact for banking relationships, trust‑account compliance, and financial audits. Process payroll and deductions for Personal Real Estate Corporations (PREC) associated with ownership. Implement and monitor internal financial controls and policies, proactively identifying inconsistencies or risks. Maintain organized electronic records for property‑management reports, company year‑end files, and payroll documentation. What We’re Looking For 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience in a multifaceted or real‑estate‑related environment. Strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting, trust accounting, and intercompany transactions. Proficiency with Sage and Microsoft Excel; comfort working with both manual and digital accounting processes. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems without micromanagement. Strong communication skills and the confidence to uphold accounting standards and deadlines across departments. Professional, firm, and solution‑driven attitude and ability to collaborate effectively with ownership and team members.
