Senior Writer (French Services) Location: Broadcast Centre, 205 Wellington St. W., Toronto, Ontario. Language requirements: English and French. Employment type: Full‑time, temporary long‑term (12‑month replacement). Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level. Position Overview Radio‑Canada Toronto seeks an enthusiastic Senior Writer with strong journalistic skills and digital news experience. The role involves writing and editing news stories for the website and associated digital platforms, meeting tight deadlines, and enhancing content with multimedia elements. Responsibilities Write, edit, package, and publish digital news content for regional and national audiences. Curate and update the Radio‑Canada Toronto landing page. Ensure website and stories align with daily priorities. Gather and report information from multiple sources. Rewrite material to suit online platforms. Conform all text to Standard French grammar, style, and correct orthography. Create headlines that meet search and social guidelines. Select photos and video/audio clips for online stories. Critically edit material written by others, providing constructive feedback. Prepare and write articles and headlines from information provided by reporters, wire copy, CBC, or original sources. Qualifications University degree or equivalent. Three to five years of directly related experience in online and digital news media. Substantial knowledge of regional, national and international issues. Sound editorial judgment and the ability to work under pressure in a newsroom with tight deadlines. Ability to write on a wide range of news and current‑affairs topics. Proficiency in digital platform best practices, style, and editing. Ability to select and edit photos and video to enhance storytelling. Understanding of potential legal issues and journalistic policy violations in digital content. Willingness to work shift work. Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork. Strong communication in French and good knowledge of English. Additional Information Shift work schedule: 38.75 hours per week, spread over two weekdays and the two weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). The role includes coordination with other journalists.
