The incumbent manages contract-related risks, manages multiple contracts, as required, and provides regular reports to supervisors and the Client Partners. The incumbent manages the contract cost, scope and schedule. In addition, the incumbent monitors submissions and coordinates the review of consultant deliverables to confirm compliance with the contract. The incumbent also manages the Client-Partner relationship and consultant performance, documents key communications with consultants and keeps Client-Partner project managers apprised of contract risks and status. KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES Primary Manage multiple contracts and competing priorities, as required Provide support to and coordinate work with other service lines. (e.g. on pre-tender reviews) Manage risks associated with contracts Prepare estimates and negotiate costs for additional contract scope Ensure consultant deliverables comply with contract requirements (e.g. review invoices, statements of work, deliverables) Carry out quality assurance for contract work and write contract performance reviews Track and monitor schedule, including all milestone deliverables Manage the financial aspects of the contract and payment certification Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations Manage risks associated with contracts Other Review statements of work for problems related to contract management Visit construction sites, and coordinate construction-phase activities and performance with construction coordinators Ensure consultant work complies with health and safety, industrial security and environmental requirements Support and/or lead business development activities Other duties as assigned Skills General and Specific Knowledge Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in professional services Estimation of fees for professional services Construction products and materials Procurement mechanisms, contract law and consultant bidding process Design process and typical deliverables (e.g. pre-design, schematic design, design development, construction documents) Project, contract and risk management principles Health and safety management Formal Education And/or Certification(s) And Experience Minimum: college diploma in engineering, architecture or related field with four years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent Preferred: certification in applicable field (e.g. Certified Engineering Technologist) Abilities Use applicable computer software and operating systems Apply project, contract and risk management techniques DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP Provides functional advice and guidance to employees and to Client-Partners WORKING CONDITIONS Typical office environment with occasional travel Some work may be located on construction sites; incumbent may occasionally be required to wear basic safety equipment Check Out Your Benefits Working with us offers excellent opportunities for growth and advancement—and entitles you to one of the job market’s best benefits packages valued at between 25 and 30% of your salary. CFB Borden is ideally located to service personnel from all across Canada. From the outset, the Base has been used for training. A multi-year infrastructure construction program is currently underway which aims to consolidate all training and quarters functions into two separate areas. In support of this program DCC’s current involvement includes the procurement and management of construction and various other contracts. To begin a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. As a condition of employment with DCC, a minimum reliability security status clearance is required and some roles may require secret security status clearance. DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints. Required The appropriate security clearance is a condition of employment and it is the candidate’s or employee’s responsibility to ensure, they are able to obtain and maintain their required security level clearance to begin or continue their employment with DCC.
