Stepping Stones Crisis Societyhas multiple openings for Casual Crisis InterventionSpecialists to join their team.This Casual Specialist role is responsible for supporting the Stepping Stones team and programs to maintain a safe and secure environment for women and children fleeing family violence.Casual team members can pick up shifts on short notice and provide scheduled coverage of morning, evening and overnight shifts. This position will be trained to cover Stepping Stones services and programs, including Frontline Crisis Intervention, Child Development, Advocacy and Outreach.Duties and Responsibilities Include:Admit and discharge clients to the Emergency Shelter; ensuring all documents/forms are accurately completedPerform intakes and conduct comprehensive client assessmentsOrientate residential clients to shelter policies and proceduresDetermine the clients immediate needs and provide support where necessarySupport Program development and deliveryProvide Outreach Services and Support to clientsTransport clients to appointments when necessaryRespond to requests for crisis intervention, community information, referral and general information to both residential clients and to individuals seeking assistance on the Help Line when requiredAdvocate for residents in various methods with various agencies when requiredPrepare, complete, and document all necessary forms, documentation, and information required throughout the clients stay in the shelterMake referrals to outside community agencies, when and where requiredParticipate in duties such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc. when requiredAttend staff meetings, in-service programs, and additional training as requiredProvide on call coverage as assigned and/or be able to cover shifts in the event of an emergencyBe an active team member and promote the team vision. Be willing to assist/help co-workers when needed and encourage open communication amongst staff by relaying vital information.Assist with training and orientation of new staff and studentsPerform other related work as assignedQualifications and RequirementsRegistered Social Worker (Degree) or post-secondary education in a related field is an asset1-3 years experience in a similar role and/or working knowledge of the dynamics of family violence, addictions, suicide and other social issuesAbility to relate to clients in a non-judgmental manner, and to respect client confidentialityExperience in handling emergency situations, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and case managementAbility to work all shifts; night shift is an awake shiftStrong written and verbal communication skills, and computer skillsThe ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environmentAcceptable Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Record CheckStandard First Aid/CPR, ASIST Certification, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is considered an assetValid Class 5 Driver's license free from restrictionsRecruitment Supported by Lakeland HR Solutions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
